The project is the first new city block in a former industrial area close to the railway, with 60 apartments of varying sizes and types. A starting point for the architecture has been to engage with the history of the european city and its relations beween buildings and street.

Rather than a reductive typological reading the composition is free yet formal, the architecture balancing between order and abstraction. The block is closed towards the major street and open towards the back. The firmity of the main facade is heightened by building volumes acting corner towers but they can also be seen as subverting the tower/slab compositional principle.

The window axes are regular and the individual window are predominantly vertical in character. The materiality of the facades enhances the atmospheric qualities of the building. Soft brick colours are juxtaposed with a severe and semi-tectonic subdivision of the facade into seemingly clear and legible building elements.
